Parent Advisory Committee
The Office of Educational Support Services is committed to parental involvement, which is a vital factor in the provision of supportive services.
The Medford Township Special Parent Advisory & Resource Community (SPARC) is a group that provides a forum for parents to discuss important challenges facing the children in our schools and community. It is based on the principles that parents are a child’s best advocate and that they have a right and responsibility to oversee their child’s education.
The mission of SPARC is to:
- Work in partnership with the district to make recommendations to the Director concerning curriculum, programming and services, and other issues to advance opportunities for children with special educational needs.
- Provide a forum for families and educators to share information and resources.
- Act as a liaison between schools, families, and the community to increase awareness of learning differences and special needs.
- Share best practices among schools and families by reaching out to all, with speakers, literature, and social meetings.
A diverse variety of topics are presented throughout the school year, which are designed to inform and stimulate the interests of all who attend. Parents of special needs children, school professionals, and the general population are invited to attend meetings. Your participation will provide you a unique opportunity to meet school officials, consultants and other parents, stay informed on policy and legislative changes, ask questions, discuss issues, and learn something new.
