"The essence of teaching is to make learning contagious, to have one idea spark another." - Marva Collins
Hello! My name is Shannon Knapp, and this will be my second year teaching at Allen School, and my fifth year teaching special education. I received my Bachelor's in Psychology with a concentration in Elementary Education in 2014, as well as my Master's Degree in Special Education from Ramapo College in 2017. I also received my Orton Gillingham certification in 2016, and training in Wilson Fundations and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). I have been working with children and adults on the Autism spectrum since I was a kid myself - I can't imagine being anything other than a special education teacher!
In my free time, I love playing with my crazy dog, Winnie, and my two cats, Fiona and Ru. I also enjoy reading, growing veggies in my garden, yoga, baking, and traveling.
I am so excited for this school year! My goal is to create an enthusiastic, positive learning environment for your student to grow academically and socially/emotionally.
