Welcome to 7th Grade Science! I am excited to begin this journey with you. I am a graduate from The College of New Jersey (aka TCNJ) with a Masters of Special Education and a Bachelors of Science in Integrated STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). I grew up in the area and love working in a community that I grew up near. I have a twin sister and younger sister, both who are studying or working in science fields as well. My hobbies outside of teaching include reading, rock climbing, cooking, and being outside and exploring. Service and involvement in the community is important to me and I hope that shows in how we engage and learn this year. I want all of my students to be good citizens of the world, beyond just being excellent science students and problem solvers. I believe these things go hand in hand in our ever changing, highly progressive world. On a more fun note I am very pro science puns, I am hoping by the end of the year you will have enough science knowledge to enjoy some with me!
The 7th Grade Science Curriculum is rooted in the Next Generation Science Standards. These serve as great guidelines for training well rounded scientific thinkers of the future. We will learn how to put the skills and knowledge we acquire into practice, all while practicing cross-cutting concepts from other subjects. These concepts will serve as a great foundation as you progress towards the high school curriculum and overall give you a better understanding of our world.Specifically in 7th grade, we will learn about weather and climate and other major events that shape our earth, as well as the makeup of our earth and how it effects everything around us.We end the year learning about the properties of matter. Properties of matter includes chemical reactions and the beginnings of basic chemistry principles.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email me! I want to facilitate an open and inviting atmosphere where questions are welcomed and encouraged and concerns are addressed promptly.
