    Welcome to Fifth Grade!

Welcome!  I am very excited about beginning a new school year! I want to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself. This is my ninth year of teaching.  I have had the opportunity to teach eighth grade Language Arts, and was also a Reading Specialist.  Since then, I have spent the past seven years as a fifth grade teacher.

I come from a family of educators, as my mother is a high school teacher, and my sister, a second grade teacher.  I was born and raised in a small town near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  My husband, Mike, is from Medford, New Jersey, which is what brought me to this area.  He actually attended Cranberry Pines as a child!

I enjoy teaching, playing tennis, watching the Steelers, skiing, taking walks with my Jack Russell Terrier, Duke, and spending time with my friends and family.  I also love to sing, and wanted to try out for American Idol, but my students told me I was too old.  (Apparently, you can't be older than 28)  :)

My college education began at James Madison University where I studied Elementary and Middle School education.  From there, I attended Slippery Rock University where I studied Reading Education and was awarded my Reading Specialist Certification.   Lastly, I completed a second master’s degree in Educational Administration and was awarded my Principal’s Certification. I am looking forward to beginning my doctoral studies in the near future.  I love teaching, and learning more about how to become the best teacher I can be.

Fifth grade is an exciting year, filled with lots of learning and fun activities, too!  I am looking forward to a great school year!
