As any student can tell you, I love books and reading.  My goal is to make all students I work with feel the same way.  I hold a B.S. in Psychology and a B.A. in Spanish from Union College in Schenectady, NY.  I received my Masters in Elementary Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.  After assistant teaching in first grade, I taught fourth grade for three years.  At that time, I moved to Pennsylvania and received my M.Ed. from West Chester University while teaching Pre-K.  Before returning to New Jersey, I taught 6th and 8th grade Reading to struggling students.  Upon my return to New Jersey, I was lucky to find a position in Medford as a Reading Specialist at Kirby’s Mill.  Here, I work with students in Kindergarten through 5th grade, teaching pre-reading and writing strategies, comprehension strategies, and test-taking skills.  In addition, I make myself available to support staff in Reading and Writing instruction through push-in during class time, suggestions for individual readers and writers, assessment of students, and instructional suggestions connected to Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop.  I am also involved in providing Professional Development for teachers during In-service training.  In addition, I have written curriculum for both Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop at several grade levels over the last few years.
