MEDFORD TOWNSHIP PUBLIC SCHOOLS
At the start of a student’s day the first and last person they see is the school bus driver. Medford Public Schools prides itself in having one of the most efficient and safest pupil transportation systems in Burlington County. The district employs the use of forty-eight school buses to transport approximately 3,000 students twice daily. We travel over 500,000 miles during the course of a school year. Our staff of drivers and assistants number over sixty.
A substantial achievement was recently realized in the completion of a new Transportation and Operations Center located on Branin Road. The new facility takes fleet operations out of a residential area of the township and places it in a more appropriate setting. The district is now prepared to adequately service its fleet today and in years to come.
To the long list of accomplishments, Medford Public Schools can add it operates the longest lasting and most successful alternative fuels program in the nation using biodiesel fuel. For the past six years, Medford Schools has partnered with the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities to demonstrate the successful integration of biodiesel fuel in a school bus fleet. Recently the NJBPU has announced a new Biodiesel incentive program. This program is a direct result of the success of our alternative fuels initiative.
It has been said that at no time in a student’s day are they more vulnerable than when they are driving in the school bus. When you think about it, that’s quite true. The responsibility of over fifty-four children is shouldered, often time, by a single driver. The residents of this community can take comfort and pride in knowing the safe transportation of our most precious resource, their children, is in the hands of a most dedicated staff.
Hours of operation are 6:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
